Mega trailer round-up – featuring Garfield, Inside Out 2, Mean Girls, Migration and more

There are lots of new movies aimed at kids and teens coming out in the next few months, and Movies4Kids has gathered together the trailers for some of the highlights heading to a cinema near you soon.

First up, we have the latest trailer for Chicken Run 2: Dawn of the Nugget, which will be available on Netflix from December 15. It picks up the story of chickens Ginger and Rocky – who now have a daughter, Molly – as they once again have to fight for their freedom and for their fellow chickens.

Also released before the end of the year is The Boy And The Heron, the latest animated feature from Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away). The story of a boy who yearns for his mother and ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead, the movie will be released in a subtitled and also a dubbed version, which features the voices of Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Willem Dafoe, Mark Hamill and Robert Pattinson. The movie is released in cinemas on December 26th.

If you want even more birds, Illumination (who made the Despicable Me and Minions movies) is bringing a lot of avian friends to the big screen in the animated movie Migration, due for release in February 2024. It’s the comic story of a mallard family who decides to go on an adventure, leaving their peaceful New England home for the delights of migrating south to Jamaica for the winter.

Coming to cinemas in the summer of 2024 is a sequel to the Disney/Pixar movie Inside Out. In the trailer for Inside Out 2 we meet a new emotion – anxiety – as Riley becomes a teenager and faces lots of changes.

Speaking of sequels, on March 29, 2024, expect a follow up to the most recent Ghostbusters movie. Entitled Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the new spooky adventure has the Spengler family returning to the New York City firehouse where it all started to save the world once more. Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts all return and you can catch a sneak peek here:

And if you think that looks scary, you haven’t met the Mean Girls. Based on the stage musical – which was based, of course on the Lindsay Lohan-starring movie – the new musical Mean Girls movie follows new student Cady (Angourie Rice) as she is introduced to the elite, bitchy group of popular girls at school known as the ‘plastics’, who are ruled by queen bee Regina George. The movie opens in cinemas on January 17, 2024.

If you fancy something a bit more cuddly, everyone’s favourite lasagne-loving, lazy cat is coming back to the big screen, too – yes, The Garfield Movie will be released on May 24, 2024 and in this animated adventure he is voiced by Chris Pratt, while Garfield’s dad is voiced by Samuel L Jackson.
