Not actually a feature film but instead a collection of episodes from this quirky kids cartoon that was made for British TV in 1999. Each episode follows the adventures of brave but stupid brothers Sir Boris (Rintoul) and Sir Morris (Blessed) as they blunder about the countryside along with Sir Horace the dog and Sir Doris the hamster.

The animation is simple, much like directors Neville Astley and Mark Baker’s later work, Peppa Pig, but this is much more fun and a little bit bonkers – sort of like Monty Python for the nappy-wearing set. Packed with knights, witches, ogres and clever jokes for all ages, it’s a treat.

Is The Big Knights suitable for kids? Here are our parents’ notes...
