While not quite as adorable as The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, this Sesame Street adventure is a must for fans of the series, and especially fans of Big Bird, who is the star here. Although he’s happy living on Sesame Street, the Feathered Friends Society has decreed that the giant yellow feathered one should really be living with other birds, so Big Bird packs up and moves to live with the Dodo family in Illinois. Of course, life there isn’t all rosy, so Big Bird decides to head back home to the Street, only to find getting there won’t be that easy.

Many of the Sesame characters pop up to find Big Bird and bring him home in this fun journey, from Mr Snuffleupagus to Bert and Ernie (Elmo, however, is absent, as he didn’t become a popular character until the 1990s). It’s funny and fast-paced for the kids, while adults will enjoy spotting the cameos from comic actors including Chevy Chase, John Candy and Sandra Bernhard (Star Wars director George Lucas also has a cameo – look into the crowd when Big Bird arrives back on Sesame Street).
