Cute little black ants battle nasty red fire ants for a box of sugar cubes in this quirky French movie that mixes real scenery with animated creatures. Spun off from the TV series that’s been shown in the UK on CBeebies, this features sound effects (buzzing, etc) and no dialogue, but nonetheless succeeds in being a delightful movie that should enchant kids of all ages.

With a sweet little ladybird caught in the middle, the story has plenty of adventures and fun moments amongst the stunning animation. Bug fans will be in heaven, but anyone wanting a unique little adventure cleverly realised on screen should take a look. Lovely stuff.

Is Minuscule suitable for kids? Here are our parents’ notes...

Very little children may find the ants themselves a little scary.
