Completely forgettable adventure based on the comic strip of the same name. Billy Zane (who is much better as a bad guy, as he was in Titanic) stars as Kit, the latest in a long line of men who have donned the mask and unflattering purple bodysuit of the Phantom to right wrongs and fight injustice with the help of trusty steed Hero.
Unfortunately, not much else happens that’s very interesting. Treat Williams gets a few good lines as bad guy Xander Drax, and there are some exotic locations for Zane to gallop around on his horse, but Zeta Jones is under-used as the sultry bad girl pilot and Swanson is just wet as Kit’s love interest. And that purple jumpsuit is really ugly, too.

Is The Phantom suitable for kids? Here are our parents’ notes...

None, though parents should note the film is best suited to the over-11s due to the tense adventure scenes and violence.

If you like this, why not try: The Rocketeer, The Shadow, Spider-Man, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade,
