An adorable prehistoric adventure about an orphan dinosaur (what is it with animators and orphans?), this movie has spawned a phenomenal ten video/DVD sequels. Executive-produced by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, it follows the adventures of cute brontosaurus Littlefoot (Damon), who is making his way with some other cuddly dinos to the mythical Great Valley, home to the lush vegetation they all need to survive.
It’s sweet, almost sleepy fare, aimed at the youngest of audiences, although some perilous scenes in the middle as the group come across predators and earthquakes may be a bit scary for them. There are some very cute moments, too, like when a young pterodactyl learns to fly, that should enchant everyone.

Is The Land Before Time suitable for kids? Here are our parents’ notes...

Young ones will be upset by the death of Littlefoot’s mother, and may find the perilous scenes on the journey (as mentioned above) quite tense.
