The Faculty is a  daft, flashy teen horror comedy that’s a cross between Species, Invasion of the Bodysnatchers and Scream (hardly surprising when you realise the author is Scream/Scream 2’s Kevin Williamson).

A group of high-school kids begin to believe what we have all suspected is true – their teachers have actually been taken over by aliens. It’s up to them to put a stop to it before the whole school – and the town – is taken over, but how can they tell who has an alien inside them (cue a ‘testing’ scene very similar to the one in John Carpenter’s The Thing) and who hasn’t?

Filled with some corking special effects (including a great decapitation, if you like that sort of thing) and fast one-liners, this is utterly silly, but also completely enjoyable. Do note, however, that there are some horror moments, so this is really only suitable for older teens.

Is The Faculty suitable for kids? Here are our parents’ notes...

As noted above, this is a horror movie, aimed at kids over 15. There’s a decapitation, a stabbing with a syringe, and the alien when it is revealed is pretty nasty.

If you like this, why not try: The Lost Boys, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Craft, The Hole, Sky High,
