Disney goes Western in this cute tale of three cows who go on an adventure to find outlaw Alameda Slim (Randy Quaid) and collect the reward on his head in order to save their farm from debt collectors.
The vocal cast reads like a who’s who of Oscar winners and nominees (Dench, Quaid, Cuba Gooding Jr, Jennifer Tilly), but the story itself is just average, the jokes obvious and things only really perk up during a yodelling musical number involving dancing steers. It’s likeable, inoffensive stuff, and perhaps worth showing to little ones with an interest in Westerns (but who are too young for the movies themselves), but kids weaned on slick fare like Shrek and Finding Nemo may be unimpressed.
