A popular cartoon series from 1996 to 2004, Hey Arnold! is the story of a nine-year-old freaky-haired boy named Arnold (we never learn his surname) who lives in a boarding house with his grandparents and an assortment of characters. When the series finished, the plan was to make three half-hour episodes for the finale, but instead they were put together to make this movie of Arnold’s adventures.
The rather dull plot concerns an industrialist who wants to bulldoze Arnold’s neighbourhood to make way for a new mall, but most viewers will probably be more entertained by the movie references (to Speed, ScoobyDoo, Casablanca and Men in Black among others) and spotting the celebrity voices, including Jennifer Jason Leigh, Christopher Lloyd and Dan Castellaneta (aka the voice of Homer Simpson). One for fans of the series only.
