Sherlock Holmes’ sister Enola (Brown) takes on her first official case in this thoroughly enjoyable detective romp.

A sequel to 2020’s Netflix hit, this features the return of likeable characters including Sherlock (Cavill), the Holmes’ mother, Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter), Edith (Susan Wokoma) and Enola’s potential love interest (Partridge) as Enola investigates the disappearance of a young woman who works in a London match factory.

Packed with action, humour and even a little romance, this is an engaging mystery that revolves around a charming performance from Brown as the quizzical and unstoppable Enola. With winks to the camera and a knowing tone that could have been annoying in the hands of another actress, she is compelling and fun to watch and especially enjoyable in scenes with Cavill (whose Sherlock storyline works much better in this sequel than in the original).

Kids and adults alike will love watching the mystery unfold and Enola figure out the clues in this smart family adventure.

Enola gets into various scrapes but it never feels like she is in great danger.

This is a 12 certificate, as there are some fight scenes featuring blood and a character found dead from knife wounds.
