A few years after his adventures in The Reef where he defeated shark bad guy Troy (Donal Logue), orange guppy Pi (Bell) is happily living with his wife Cordelia and little son Junior. Unfortunately, Troy (now beefed up on steroids) and his shark mates are heading towards Pi’s pretty reef home, and it’s up to our little fishy hero and his friends to stop them.

While it isn’t quite as fun or sophisticated as Finding Nemo, this animated ocean adventure looks colourful and has a simple, easy to follow storyline that will appeal to very young viewers. It’s harmless stuff that moves along at a better pace than the rather tedious original, and there are some cute jokes to keep captive adults amused, too.

Is The Reef 2: High Tide suitable for kids? Here are our parents’ notes...

There are some fights among the fish, but nothing scary.

Very little viewers may find the sharks frightening to begin with.
