It seems the baddest bad guys – the Mummy, the Werewolf, Frankenstein’s monster, Gill Man (aka the Creature from the Black Lagoon) and Dracula – have got together to find an amulet that could destroy the balance of good and evil in the world and turn everything to darkness. Seems simple enough, but first they have to get past a group of kids who found vampire hunter Van Helsing’s diary and are now calling themselves the Monster Squad, and who are determined to stop them.
Yes, this is as daft as it sounds – a sort of Abbott and Costello meets Scooby-Doo adventure – but it’s fun too (one kid slaps Dracula with the garlic bread he is carrying to make a getaway) for kids wanting a few scares and a few chuckles.

The final scenes are quite scary, but nothing here should bother the over-15s.

If you like this, why not try: Scooby Doo, Monster House, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Hole, The Lost Boys,
