A broad comedy for kids, this isn't as enjoyable as the Madagascar movies or The Wild, but has enough warm humour to tickle the occasional junior-sized funnybone. It's the story of Boog (voiced by Lawrence), a bear who has been raised by forest ranger Beth (Debra Messing). Unfortunately, after he meets mischievous deer named Elliott (Kutcher), Boog is led off the straight and narrow and his adult carer realises now may be the time to return Boog to the wild. Beth takes the pair to an area she believes will be safe from hunters, but she hadn't reckoned on trigger-happy hunter Shaw (Sinise), who is soon on their trail.
There's an environmental/green message to be had here, but the writers don't hammer it over viewers' heads, and instead this is best remembered for nice lessons about teamwork and friendship that aren't too mawkish. Oh, and there are some really cute rabbits, too.
