A 21st-century update of the Herbie movies from the sixties and seventies (see The Love Bug review), starring teen queen Lindsay Lohan. She is Maggie, the daughter of a failed stock-car racing driver (Keaton) and latest owner of the VW Beetle with a mind of its own. Of course, it’s not long before Maggie’s doing a bit of racing herself, taking on the reigning NASCAR champ Trip Murphy (Dillon), who is none too pleased about the competition.
It’s all pretty predictable but fun stuff, and kids should get a kick out of the racing scenes, slapstick and Lohan (and Herbie’s) winning performance. Grown-ups along for the ride should keep their eyes peeled during the opening sequence for a cameo from that coolest of cars, KITT (from TV’s Knight Rider). And parents should note that Lohan’s significant post-pubescent cleavage was reportedly digitally reduced (or hidden with raised necklines) after early screenings of the movie caused concern that she looked too raunchy for small children’s eyes.

Is Herbie: Fully Loaded suitable for kids? Here are our parents’ notes...

None.
