Six years after Gremlins, and Billy (Galligan) has moved to the big city with his girlfriend Kate (Cates). They both work for media mogul Daniel Clamp (John Glover, doing a semi-Donald Trump impersonation) in his ultra-modern new skyscraper. But when Billy brings little Gizmo the mogwai to work and he’s captured by a scientist who doesn’t know what can happen, it’s not long before he’s spawning those evil gremlins again and they are causing havoc (and this time they can talk, too).
Almost as inventive as the original, this sequel spoofs old TV shows and movies (see Gizmo as Rambo!) and is packed with laughs. In fact, the gremlins themselves are funnier and less scary than in Gremlins, making this more of an all-round family film.

Is Gremlins 2: The New Batch suitable for kids? Here are our parents’ notes...

As with the first movie, the gremlins are pretty gruesome throughout, especially in a scene in which one of them drinks a potion from the lab that turns it into a gremlin/spider. Ugh…
