Not to be confused with the similar and marginally better Chasing Liberty, this stars a pre-Tom Cruise Katie Holmes as Samantha Mackenzie, daughter of the President of the United States (Michael Keaton, who surely deserves better than this). Our Sam just wants to be like every other girl and go to college without the Secret Service following her every move, and her dad finally agrees but isn’t too happy when a photo of her campus exploits gets splashed across the tabloids.
It’s very predictable stuff that suffers from a bland script, plodding direction and two wishy-washy leads in the form of Holmes and Blucas as her romantic interest. A tedious romantic comedy that gets a D-minus in both the love and laughs department.
