Mark Dindal, who also directed Chicken Little, is the director of this animated musical about a cat named Danny (Bakula) who wants to make it big in Hollywood but discovers that cats only get supporting roles in films to humans like spoiled little girl star Darla Dimple.
It’s actually a spoof of thirties Hollywood (a caricature of MGM’s legendary Louis B Mayer even pops up and Gene Kelly was credited as a choreography consultant) that will fly over the heads of young viewers, but they’ll enjoy scenes of Danny with his new Hollywood pals, Woolie the elephant (John Rhys-Davies) and feline actress Sawyer (voiced by Guy, but with Cole singing), and some cute songs and jokes along the way.
