A follow-up to 2007’s live action/CGI comedy Alvin And The Chipmunks, this adventure has squeaky squirrels Alvin, Theodore and Simon attending school and discovering a rival singing group, the Chipettes, will be competing against them in a local music contest. When the three little furry dudes aren’t being bullied by the big kids on campus, they’re falling for the cute little female woodland creatures, unaware that the Chipettes are being managed by their old manager, the nefarious Ian (David Cross). Uh oh.

Once again, the formula is a mixture of chipmunk high-jinks and high-pitched renditions of well known songs – in fact there are many more songs in this sequel than in the original, including Katy Perry’s ‘Hot N Cold’, Beyoncé’s ‘Single Ladies’ and even the Bee Gees’ ‘Stayin Alive’. Little ones will find it pretty cute, and while adults will wish there were more jokes, it’s perfect, inoffensive fare for the very young, and animal lovers…
