All Hallie (Birch) and Ethan (Randall) want for Christmas is for their divorced parents to get back together again. And this being a Yuletide feel-good movie, do you think they’ll get their wish, kiddies?
Meant as a comedy for preteens, this will infuriate any grown-ups watching with its scrappy script and daft plotting (the kids’ plan is to lock mum’s new beau in an ice-cream truck and then fake being sick so Dad and Mum will end up in the same room together, and of course it works), while kids will be bored by the lack of jokes and funny moments. Only of interest if you want to see co-stars Leslie Nielsen (as Santa) and screen legend Lauren Bacall (as the kids’ grandma) giving the worst performances of their careers. Bah humbug.
Is All I Want For Christmas suitable for kids? Here are our parents’ notes...
None.
