Parents’ Guide to Star on Disney+ – and more Disney+ treats coming soon

On February 23rd, a new brand – Star – is being added to Disney+, joining all the content already there from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, National Geographic and Disney.

Star will bring hundreds of television shows and movies to Disney+ , including the new series Big Sky and Love, Victor (a spin-off from the movie Love, Simon), as well as classic shows like Lost, How I Met Your Mother, Prison Break, The X-Files, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Atlanta and movies including Beaches, The Devil Wears Prada, Ed Wood and Independence Day as well as more family-friendly or teen fare like The Fault In Our Stars, The Maze Runner, Three Fugitives and Simon Birch.

Obviously, quite a few of these new series and movies aren’t suitable for kids, so Disney is launching parental controls on February 23rd, allowing parents/carers to separate the more grown-up content from the many child-friendly movies and TV series already available. This will include the option to set limits on access to content for specific profiles based on content ratings, and allow a PIN to lock profiles that have access to more mature content.

Here’s someone you may recognise to explain it:

Family Guy series 1 to 18 will be available on Disney+ Star, along with 75 series and more than 280 movies.

For example, main account holders will be able to select bespoke content ratings for each profile, e.g. 6+, 9+, 12+, 14+, 16+ and 18+ and once a content rating is applied, only relevant content will be available in that specific profile and via the search.
