We pick the top 10 kids movies of 2016 - a fantastic year for family films

I think most people would agree that 2016 was a pretty dismal year for many reasons. One thing that did bring joy, however, was the movies, and this year there was a rather magical selection of films for kids and families – in fact it was so good that for the first time ever in Movies4Kids’ history it was really buy provigil 100mg online hard to pick just 10 movies of the year.

    Directed by Makoto Shinkai – who has already, and deservedly, been compared to legendary Spirited Away director Hayao Miyazaki – this is gorgeous movie to look at that also manages to entertain and touch the heart. An absolute must-see for older kids and adults, this is just utterly, utterly lovely.

    Aside from the stunning animation and fun vocal performances, what makes Moana such a treat is the story of the girl herself. This Disney heroine doesn’t need a romantic lead like Frozen’s Anna, so there is no mushy love story stuff to put male viewers off. She’s a strong, funny, curious girl, which makes her appealing to everyone.

    A superb animated adventure from Disney that will delight both adults and kids, Zootropolis (or Zootopia in the US) is a cleverly-constructed, charming mismatched cop comedy set in a human-free world where mammals live in a vibrant, bustling metropolis.

    Stunningly animated – there are numerous scenes that will make you go ‘wow!’ from a creepy giant skeleton to a flock of origami birds – and boasting a splendid story, this is a truly lovely stop-motion cinematic adventure.

    Hunt for the Wilderpeople (12A)

    Packed with laugh-out-loud moments as Hec and Ricky try and survive out in the bush, this has a terrific, smart script from writer/director Taika Waititi (best known for Flight Of The Conchords and the hysterical vampire mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows) that offers some sweet moments, too, without ever becoming over-sentimental. And that’s not only down to his words and direction – it’s also the pitch-perfect performances that make this movie such a treasure.
